34 years old (made in May 1985) and looking good despite a little more rust. I felt a little melancholy driving it today. It will cost over $180CDN/$133USD to fill the tank on it this summer, the people with skills to repair/restore old cars are retiring every day and electric cars are everywhere. I passed a Bolt with a plate that said L8R GAS. I feel that the time of the truck is passing.
Likewise, Langley Township, where I live is also undergoing a transformation. The farms and industry of the past are giving way to condos and townhomes at an alarming pace. The photos today are of old things. Rusting away.

My dad still drives his 99 dodge quad cab long bed with the 5.9 magnum. He’s 84 and I’m trying to suggest he retire it from active duty, but he loves his truck and just put $2,000 in repairs in it. It’s such a beast to drive, and 15 mpg! It’s old and a bit cranky and the trucks a bit feisty as well.

$180? How big is the tank, or are you putting 94 in it or something?

Its a 100L. I'm anticipating the gas prices later in the summer. $1.80 for sure at times

I’m pretty sure it’s been 25 years since I’ve seen one of those Dodge trucks in such good shape. Thank you. :-)

Damn that’s a nice big tank.
Ugh, not looking forward to that. I’m still only doing $75-$80 fills with the legacy , so not my favourite but still totally doable.

M elancholy i s just the word to describe it. What was once great is soon to be just, gone. Replaced by something else, for better or worse.
Times they are-a-changin’. S ometimes I feel like I’m from a bygone era and the future is unfamiliar and largely abhorrent.

I think I will cross the border to fill it. I live close enough

hell yeah! Fintail’s new car has a hood ornament that matches his old car. I wish dodge gave you that option.

This brings back memories. My high school track coach had a late-’70s Power Wagon which was two-tone red/white and 4x4 with a brush guard up front. I always thought that it was a fantastic truck.
